How else would you remove the ejector?(03/02/2010)
A 1/16" roll pin punch and small hammer along with this tool and you are GTG and removing the ejector in less than a minute. Reassembly was also a snap.
A high quality tool(14/03/2010)
This very specific tool will suite you well if you ever need to remove your ejector spring and pin. The block is very heavy, solid aluminum and cradles the bolt perfectly securely. It has holes in the bottom to allow the roll pin to easily hammer out. It's one of the highest quality units available for this task. If you want/need to be able to remove your ejector, this is the tool for you. The only downside is the price. This simple tool is more costly then it should be for its function. Having said that, it is a very high quality unit.
Great handy little tool(01/03/2011)
This tool makes removing the ejector spring, detent and roll pin a snap and saves parts flying all around. Simple idea but really worth having if you need to remove the smaller bolt parts, and I like the ability to clamp it all in a vice easily. The tool has a small hole to allow you to "catch" the pin underneath easily, even when viced. And the unit holds the bolt securely by the lugs as well as the ejector plunger. Well worth having if you need to strip down the bolt regularly. Well built too.
Very good tool(12/05/2012)
Had to drill the roll pin out of my nickle boron bolt. This tool provided me a good base to hammer, drill, and throw (if I needed to). Recessed edge allowed my vise to securely hold it and didn't slip down into the vise. Quality product. Could have been more economical, but I'm not complaining. If you need to check head space on an AR platform and strip down the bolt, this is the tool.
Great Tool(12/10/2012)
I finished an AR build and needed to check my headspace. I was looking around for the right tool and found this one. There is another tool similar but thought to save a few dollars. It worked just fine and did what it was built to do. Made removing the ejector a snap. Make sure you have the 1/16 roll pin holder and punch to complete the set. You may not use this tool all that often, but when you need it, none of your buddies will have one (Trust Me).
takes the hassle out of the job(25/07/2014)
Holds the bolt securely and lined up correctly by the bottom lug. Easily secures in a vice with the relief cuts. Did this for years without a tool, but very happy to have it now.
greatly simplifies checking head space(14/02/2015)
this tool really simplifies the job. if you're trying to evaluate AR headspace of several bolts with a barrel, this is the tool (assuming you have the go, no-go gages). you do need the 1/16" roll pin punch (the one with the ball end), and roll pin holder to really make this a quick and simple job. the dual recesses for catching the roll pin is a neat feature, and the notch to help clock the bolt and hold it in position is nice. no flying springs or lost ejectors.
i did put some grease on the threaded part to improve the tools' longevity.
well worth the price.
Great tool for the task(10/01/2017)
I was able to try out my new tool for the first time today and I'm very pleased with it. It feels very solid, and I don't believe it'll ever need replacing. Like others have said, it has a nice recessed edge for if you'd like to hold it in a vice, although I simply sat it on my workbench. It held the bolt securely while the piston portion was turned to push the ejector into the bolt, then I used a 1/16" roll pin punch to tap out the roll pin. Others have mentioned that the block would catch the roll pin, but my block has holes drilled completely through. I'm not sure if that's how it was designed, but I simply put a piece of clear tape across the bottom to make sure the roll pin didn't go anywhere when it came out. This turned out to be helpful because when it was time to put it back together, I could hold it up to the light and see the whole way through to make sure everything was lined up before I started tapping the pin back in. I believe it's worth the cost and would recommend it.
Works as expected(03/02/2017)
Worked as expected. It does have some wiggle room and you might notice the tool hit the bolt face by the lugs, but just add a small amount of pressure to the side to realign and it will work perfectly. Makes taking the pin out so much easier.
