Excellent alternative to A2(16/07/2009)
Rock solid, great looking and lighweight. Feels and handles better than a standard A2 buttstock but is lighter and stronger, I'm replacing all my A2 stocks with the ARFX.
I have two of and just bought two mone(11/10/2009)
I use this stock to shoot IPSC 3-gun. This stock allows me to run a second dot on a hand guard. When I roll this stock to use the dot i don't lose my cheek-weld. This allows for a very fast site picture. When installing the foam it help to coat the buffer tube with baby powder. The only thing I would change would to include a buffer tube.
Easy to install!!!(12/11/2009)
One screw removes the old stock. A couple of screws and the ARFX is installed. Love the option for multiple sling attatchments. Nice butt-pad. Very solid unit!
Love It(13/01/2010)
Excellent stock. Lightweight and strong. It was a bit short for my 6'1" stature so I added a DPMS one inch extension. Now it it the perfect length.
Carbine parts(12/06/2010)
When adding this stock to a carbine, you need to also purchase a standard extension tube, spring, buffer, and spacer if the carbine has the collapsible stock. Otherwise, a nice addition to the AR platform.
Solid as a rock!(05/01/2011)
I have both, however, If you generally work in tight spaces and like the feel of a securely fixed stock over an adjustable you'll love the entry ARFX. Its shorter. Its equivalent to a collapsible stock completely collapsed. The standard A1/A2 length is great if you don't. For both stocks- some charging handles on some rifles may rub the foam tube cover but anyone who can change out a stock on an AR can remedy that small problem. Use a little oil to lubricate the inner wall of the foam tube cover when you install it. Don't worry, there isn't gun solvent or oil that will harm the foam material! I sprayed mine with lead and copper remover and left it out in the sun for three days just to see if I could get the foam to break down. I failed. I had an extra foam cover so I was able to experiment a little. Rock solid build folks! You could knock a door down with this stock. [...]
A perfect fixed stock for an AR platform(08/01/2011)
I am a patrol rifle instructor and build rifles for our Department operators. I have never liked adjustable stocks and have never found a collasable that has acceptable "flex." I have used A-2 style stocks since I first qualified with the A-2 in the USMC in 1984. But the weight of the A-2 stock was excessive for a patrol rifle application. The AFRX is a perfect solution. It fits excellently, and installs in minutes. I like the rubber but pad and the closed cell foam cheek piece. It seems strong and durable. The sling attachment points worked well with an Intrepid 3-point sling.
Solid stcok(09/01/2011)
This stock really does what it should. It is solid, light, and the foam tube is comfortable. It also includes a single point sling adapter.
Save yourself the trouble(16/01/2011)
Save yourself the trouble. The tolerances on this thing are terrible. The buttstock won't fit on your buffer tube correctly because the screw hole is off center and you can easily cross thread the screw and ruin your buffer tube. And the rubber pad won't fit on the buttstock correctly because the hole spacing in the pad is farther apart than it is on the buttstock. I got two and they didn't fit either a Colt or a Bushmaster.
Rock Solid(12/05/2011)
This is a great stock! I used it on a recent build and it was awesome. The other reviews are correct about lubricating the buffer tube - and it says so in the instructions. I did order a new buttstock screw from Brownells just in case and it was just what I needed. The comment about the cross threading I feel is a little off - as long as you properly align everything, it's a quick and easy install. Of note, this stock is incredibly light weight. Should you be using a heavy barrel or weighty forend, expect to have a front-heavy weapon. Good for rapid fire as it helps muzzle climb, but not so good for some precision shots. Overall - you can't beat this stock!
Good product(27/08/2012)
Havent blown a lot of rounds through it yet, but it apears pretty sturdy. When you buy this you will need all the buffer assembly parts except the stock screw, and the extension spacer.
Make a kit out of this(12/02/2013)
Brownells should offer this in kit form - I ordered this stock because I liked the look of it. Then I realised that I needed an 'A-2 buffer tube, buffer, and spring if replacing a collapsible M4-type buttstock' (see left) So then I had to order A2 Rifle Stock Completion Kit 080-000-554WB Not a big deal - but prolly somthing that should be available.
Exceptional value(19/07/2013)
I bought this to replace the standard A2 style fixed stock on my AR. Even though my AR is a carbine, I dislike collapsible style carbine stocks. I much prefer a fixed stock.
Installation is extremely simple, and only took a couple of minutes. Provided you follow the advice to oil the foam collar before installing. Everything fit perfectly. Once installed, it is not only attractive, but it's rock solid. And I really like the thick, soft rubber butt pad.
Outstanding product and well worth the money.
this is what you want(16/08/2013)
Nothing is ever perfect. This IS a great stock. Even though my AR is a carbine, I dislike collapsible style carbine stocks. I much prefer a fixed stock. Make sure you purchase a A2 buffer tube/spring/ . . . if you are replacing a collapsible stock.
Installation is extremely simple, and only took a couple of minutes. Provided you follow the advice to oil the foam collar before installing. Everything fit perfectly. Once installed, it is not only attractive, but it's rock solid. And I really like the thick, soft rubber butt pad.

Perfect(22/11/2013)
Great fit and for the price, its the best stock out there.
Solid, comfortable and looks good on gun(24/12/2013)
I have the shorter version of this stock (CQB length) that I used in my dedicated AR .22, VZ-58, FS556 and M870 shotgun in combination with the ACE folding stock mechanism. This is one strong comfortable skeleton stock that truly adds value and aesthetics to the gun. Well worth the money and highly recommended.
great stock(01/03/2014)
very lightweight but very strong stock perfect for my troy MCS for my M1A very easy to put on
Good stock, bad recoil pads(01/07/2014)
The stock itself is rock solid and everyone and their cousin seems to use these stocks in IPSC rifle at least here in Finland. If I were to build an AR now, I would probably go with this stock again. However, I am not pleased with the recoil pads. It seems that the pad has a plastic frame in it and the frame will break into tens of little pieces rather easily after a while. They should make the frame out of aluminium.
Good for 3GUN(03/09/2014)
Stock is simple, lightweight and durable. I have been using for 2 years now on my 3GUN rifle with no issues. The length of Pull can be a bit long, I removed the Rubber Pad and run skateboard tape on the Aluminum butt, my optic doesn't have long eye relief so this was necessary, Still a great stock and I would recommend.
Do Not Over Tighten!!(13/03/2015)
This stock looks good. With the use of an air compressor it is a really fast install. Be warned, do not over tighten the button pad. It has a cheap plastic frame molded into the rubber and if you Crack this you just jacked up your but pad. Also do not over tighten the sling adapter. Mine did not thread in until it was flush. My remedy for this was more torque, wrong answer. ...the screw broke off in the mounting hole and I had to drill it out and ended up booger in my threads. If this had a metal but pad frame and qd fitting for a sling it would be 5 star but as is it gets only 2. I understand it was my own fault for over tightening, it still leaves me disappointed.
This is a well-made product with tight tolerances. Just follow the instructions and make sure everything is aligned before tightening. If you don't have a compressor, use a bit of dish-soapy water to slide the pad on the tube. When the soap dries it will be tight; if you use oil or WD40 the pad will always spin on the tube.Use the short screw to seat the frame, then remove it and use the long screw to mount the the butt pad. The result will be a tight mount with zero flex or rattle. While the length of pull is only 1/2 longer than my collapsible stock, it feels very different (better) and mounts quicker (I shoot an Aimpoint PRO).
Great Product...However(23/05/2017)
This product is great. Once you realize you can't just put it on your AR like any other part. It does say in the description A2 buffer tube. I didn't know that was different from a regular buffer tube. This point cannot be stressed enough. This stock needs a A2 BUFFER TUBE! Most AR rifles do not have an A2 buffer tube. You will need to buy one before this can be installed. Also you will need an air compressor to get the pad on and even that takes twenty minutes.
Good AR rifle stock, within reason. (28/12/2017)
IMO the best looking AR rifle stock out there and it is lighter than most at the same time. There have been a bunch of different models of the ARFX stock over the years. The one that got delivered to my door was the current 7 hole QD stud model (as of DEC, 2017). I think this relevant to mention as my buddy ordered one of these things a few months back from NOT Brownells and it was the previous model. Both work fine but I can stick 7 QD studs in mine....
Finish was good, install was fun with the foam tube. Used soapy water to start and got it on the rifle buffer tube after a couple minutes. All the QD holes worked properly with the supplied QD stud. I installed this on a AR 308 platform, in this case a gen 2 PA-10. Looks freaken GREAT on this particular rifle but I just want to point out to others using LR-308 patterned rifles a couple things. Do to the longer receiver of these guns the length of pull is also a tad longer than what it would be on an AR-15. Something I DID not consider. For me this stock is the perfect length on an AR-15 but its slightly longer than my ideal on this Ar-10 style. But its still workable. For smaller framed folks this might be a consideration. You could just not install the rubber butt pad and that should get it about right for Ar-15 length. However, I'm a pansy and like the rubber butt pad with 7.62 Nato/.308 rounds.
Now a consideration on durability of this stock. This thing is totally NOT Soldier proof. It is 100 percent fine for anything you do as civilian type guy/gal. Its fine for most LEO stuff too IMO. It is not "go to war" tough. Its just the nature of aluminum and an exposed rifle length buffer tube. None of the old ACE line of stocks would survive the hardest challenge you can give a piece of gear... the uncaring 19 year old Private that WILL find a way to brake anything. If you try and use this stock to do daft things like use your rifle as some kind of wacko tool to like pry doors open I don't know if it would survive that. IE...soldier proof.... Used like how normal people do things, its great. If you need the absolute toughest stock, go get a boring GI spec A2 fixed stock. That thing can take abuse and seems to protect the buffer tube quite well.

That thing can take abuse and seems to protect the buffer tube quite well.
