Nice tool!(07/11/2012)
Used to remove crimps on Federal 5.56 brass. Swap out the cutter on the Wilson/Sinclair case trimmers and ream out those bothersome primer crimps. Bevels the primer pocket which I thought was a bit much at first look. It appeared that the primers were set too deep. I tested a bunch of them loaded with primer only and all worked fine. I think the bevel just makes the primer look too deep. The upside of the bevel is that it makes priming on a progressive press smooth as silk. The only downside is that the handle of the reamer is just a knurled knob. Your fingers get kind of cramped after a bunch of cases. I would think that a handle similar to the cutter would make this tool a joy to use. Overall very satisfied and will get the large one for .308/.30-06.
Good Tool, Much better than swaging(01/09/2013)
The knurled knob does wear on the fingers so a glove or some finger protection is a must. The long handle would be better if Wilson made it. Your hand starts to cramp after a hundred rounds or so but it does a gorgeous job.
Resulting primer pocket dia. out of spec(28/07/2015)
The SAAMI specification for small rifle/pistol primer pocket diameter is 0.1730" minimum to 0.1745" maximum. This tool is marked .175 and when used as instructed will produce a primer pocket with a diameter of 0.175" which is greater than the maximum SAAMI specification of 0.1745". More than just removing the crimp, this tool increases the diameter of the primer pocket over its entire depth. The tool does not increase the depth of the primer pocket or do anything to the flash hole. The result of using this tool as instructed is primer pockets that are out of specification and loose primers. This will shorten the life of your brass.
And by the way, the tool pictured by Sinclair is Wilson's neck reaming tool and not the primer pocket reamer. The cutting edges of the primer pocket reamer are much shorter, the depth of a primer pocket. While these two tools otherwise look identical, the difference should be obvious to anyone who understands what this tool does.
Tedious Tool(07/06/2017)
As another review points out, this tool is marked at a dimension outside the spec for the small primer pocket. The oversized cutter jammed on occasion requiring the tool and brass to be slipped out of the trimmer assembly. The knurled knob is uncomfortable for more than one or two pieces of brass being processed.
