M & P 9MM 17 Rd magazines(01/03/2018)
Just back from the range where I ran 300 rounds thru 6 of these magazines I received yesterday. Zero problems of any kind. Magazines were packaged well, there factory coating is slick and uniform, empty magazines ejected completely every time. Will be buying more soon.
Excellent service (21/04/2018)
Bought for my m&p 2.0. At a gun shop these mags are $40 a piece. Brownells 3 pack is a clear deal. Arrived on time in factory packaging and all 3 mags work flawlessly. Very satisfied customer!
M2.0 mags(27/07/2018)
These magazines are just like the ones that come with the gun when you buy it. Nice fit, no feed or stove piping. I just ordered another 3 pack yesterday.
M7P 9mm 17 round magazine(02/07/2015)
I ordered two of these magazines. I also ordered the Apex mag base plates. When I went to install the new base plates I noticed both magazines follower springs were installed upside down. This caused the follower to jam. These magazines appeared to have come from S&W as they were the same as those that came with the gun. Please check your follower springs before you carry these mags. I have not used these in a firearm yet so I cant comment on functionality. I also rated it as 3 stars because if they work fine and all that was needed was for the spring to be removed and reinstalled correctly for them to work then ok. Please check before using!!!!
C'mon S&W!(14/08/2015)
Like the other reviewer on here I ordered some magazines but when I got them the spring was installed upside down. If I didn't check them before going to work they would've looked right but almost certainly would have jammed in use. After I fixed it they work fine, but I shouldn't have to do that it's a pretty obvious mistake.
Quality Mag - Spring Upsidedown! (16/09/2015)
As others have mentioned - I too received a mag with the spring installed upside down:
I ordered 2 OEM S&W M&P magazines a couple of weeks ago for my fullsize 9mm. At the range yesterday, I loaded both to capacity - the first one fed all 17 rounds without issue.
Upon firing the 2nd magazine, I noticed that the gun was starting to cycle "funny" after about 7 rounds shot. I can't really describe it, but with about 3K rounds behind that trigger, you kind of just know when something is "different", almost like it was cycling a hair more slowly. With 4 rounds left in the mag, I had a stovepipe & FTF malfunction all at once. I should have taken a picture...it was quite a sight. This gun had just fired 3000 perfect rounds, and now malfunctioned.
At the moment of failure, my mind was spinning - maybe it was the extractor, maybe it was the recoil spring that I had been meaning to replace.
I looked down into the chamber and mag well and instantly thought, "What the...."
The magazine follower was pointing downward (into the mag), with the remaining ammo in the magazine just loosely sitting in the mag. My guess is that it had been sitting like this for a couple of rounds, and the M&P somehow managed to continue to feed. Judging by the way that this FTE/FTF looked, it tried really hard to feed that next round, but everything went to heck on the gun. I think it was dragging on rounds that were loosely sitting in the mag, while trying to load double rounds and extract a spent case at the same time.
I dropped the mag and immediately took it apart. I found that the mag spring was installed upside down, and was disconnected from the follower. The mag spring tapers with the magazine, so it can only be correctly installed on way. Install it upside down and it looses all usability about 3/4 of the way up the mag.
Kudos to S&W for making a handgun that will operate in nearly broken conditions, but this defect is scary, and proof that you should test all of your gear prior to putting it in your competition or self-defense rig.
Perfect in every way(26/01/2016)
S&W OEM magazine made by MecGar. These mags are perfect in every way. One had the mag spring upside down, but as an experienced shooter I would not deploy a magazine (or a gun) without first having detail stripped and inspected it. And of course once I did it was surprisingly simple to turn the spring around. No customer service or gunsmith support required. If you have an M&P and need an additional magazine, look no further.
AGAIN -- SPRING NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY(23/03/2017)
I ipurchased these 3 magazines to add to the other two I received when I bought the 9mm M&P 2.0. I ASSUMED (always a dangerous thing) that the previously mentioned magazine spring issues were a "one-off" or probably applied only to a certain production lot, but 2 of the 3 magazines I received had the spring installed "backwards". I initially noted the magazine would NOT seat completely into the pistol grip (it was "loose" and rattled) and when I compared the follower position to the 2 mags purchased with the pistol -- THEY WERE NOT IN THE SAME POSITION !! Based upon the other reviews -- the situation was easily corrected ... but it kind of makes the point once again: what is S&W doing continuously (it appears) selling these mags that are not put together correctly and obviously not QA'd before they leave the factory??? That's a below average for Smith & Wesson and their QA people. Mags recommended, but with disappointment ...
Great Purchase(13/06/2017)
Just to address other reviews where customers found magazine springs incorrectly installed: I just purchased three (3), 17rd magazines. All springs and followers were properly installed. I have not shot with them yet, but hope this reflects M&Ps renewed focus on quality control for magazines. Also, this is by far the best price I've found for NIB mags.
