In the past, there was only one acceptable way to install a front sight in a ramp - pound it in with a hammer from the side. This method frequently marred a beautiful finish and loosened or damaged the ramp. The Williams Front Sight Pusher is the easiest and best way to install a front sight in a ramp. Equalizing the pressure on ramp and sight, it permits installation without marring or damaging. Eliminates excessive pressure on the ramp. Smoothly, accurately moves sight into exact position. This is only for a ramped front sight and will not work on any pistol sights.
SPECS: Aluminum body is 43/8" (11.1cm) long x 1" (2.5cm) wide x 13/8" (3.5cm) high. Screw is steel.

It would be a great tool if ....(02/08/2017)
I watched a couple of YouTube videos about this item prior to my purchase. The videos demonstrated a certain difficulty in mounting this device onto cylinderical rifle barrels. The product seems to be well made. The issue for me is that it seems that the height of the 'shoe' should be twice what it currently is, in order to easily mount onto the rounded-top (arch) of pistol slides or cylindrical barrels. Or perhaps the manufacturer would consider posting a video on their mounting procedure in order to ease the users confusion.
Not Impressed(07/09/2011)
I got this sight pusher 962-050-000 and I'm not very satisfied with it. I bought it to help prevent the marring that even a plastic hammer will make, but the pusher tends to slip off and mars the finish even worse. It's almost a 3-hand operation to hold it in place and use it. Also, I had to cut almost a quarter inch off of the pusher blade and square it up in the mill. Otherwise, it would not open up enough to push a sight in until the sight was almost in place anyway.
Will be sending it back(30/12/2011)
The one I got binds up when I try to push the sight. Not sure what is binding but it locks up tight with no push at all. Might be defective in some way. Will be sending it back. It looks like it would work well on blade sights, but does not have enough clearance for globe sights unless very low. Also does not work well on sights slotted into the barrel, really needs a base to work with. All in all, very limited on applications.
Worked Great For Me!(07/09/2012)
Usually when adjusting a front sight with a nylon drift and hammer by the third blow I would remember and wish for the Williams Front Sight Pusher. Thankfully I thought of it early when purchasing a Meprolight tritium front sight blade for a 590A1 and included this pusher in the order. Worked like a champ! I lubricated the pusher's threads and sliding barrel with a couple of drops of Breakfee CLP, running the threaded jaw fully in both directions. Nice smooth feel with no binding. I placed the assembled shotgun in a cradle. Installed the pusher to push the existing blade off from the left to the right. Just snugged the pusher and triple checked the alignment of the base supports on the ramp and the screw jaw on the sight base. When satisfied I started twisting the handle and the existing blade broke loose and pushed right off. Both hands were required. One to turn the pushers handle and the second to steady the pusher body, making a cradle or padded vise to hold the firearm a necessity. I then removed the tool and cleaned the old threadlocker / glue from the dovetail with a clean drying solvent and then added a couple of drops of blue loctite to the dovetail. Installed the Meprolight blade from the right side of the base finger tight and installed the sight pusher to push from right to left. I again triple checked the alignment, once satisfied I twisted the handle and the sight blade installed with no problems. No mars, no scars, I would give the Williams Front Sight Pusher 4-1/2 stars if that were an option.
Better than what Mom used to make(12/10/2012)
As soon as I took it out of the package I had a sight to try it out on. It worked better than I expected. As a machinist, former mechanic & farmer I am no stranger to building tools I need, parts can be made cheaper than buying them usualy, and I've been doing this stuff for years, I'm telling you, other than being a little stiff to opperate at first, it's a wonderful tool. All I can add is Thanks Brownells for making a difficult sight a bit easier to work with.
Williams Front Sight Pusher(16/06/2014)
Finely machined material, couldn't be better. Used it to place higher front bead sight on Williams shorty ramp. Was going to just use mallet and punch but I thought, why not do it right this time? Glad I did. It took about 2 minutes to R/R the bead. Not a scratch or a mar on my custom .45 Colt. Not sure what else it will be used for (Glock, S&W) but for any Williams ramp, it's perfect.
Very good for Ruger 10/22(25/08/2017)
Bought this for a Ruger 10/22 front sight that seemed press-fitted (lifted metal was palpable on the left side of the sight-base at the base-sight joint) and that I could not budge with a brass punch and hammer.
Worked great: made removal easy. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was slight marring of the sight base finish (might have prevented that with more tape) that touched up nicely with cold bluing.
